You can be the most talented person in the room—but if others don’t perceive you that way, your expertise may never have the impact it should.
Perception influences who gets trusted, heard, hired, promoted, and invited into opportunities. Yet many people unknowingly allow outdated assumptions, unconscious biases, and snap judgments to shape how others see them.
In Flip the Lens, Shira Abel explores how perception is formed, how assumptions influence professional relationships, and what we can do to intentionally shape the way we are understood. Participants will examine the gap between what is true about us and what others perceive—and learn why managing that gap can be essential to building trust, influence, and opportunity.
What You’ll Take Away
Participants will explore three key ideas:
- If people are seeing you differently than you intend, you have an opportunity to influence that perception.
- Assumptions shape decisions—and when we don’t actively shape those assumptions, they can shape us.
- Reputation is influenced not only by what is true, but by what others perceive.
